More about me…How I got into Korean culture and ALL things Korean

CN BLUE concert I went to in January.

First, let me just say, I L-O-V-E LOVE anything Korean! 🙂

I got into Korean dramas first, my friend, M, got into them in college. I teased her for a good year before I decided to check things out.  I watched my first drama 5 years ago!!! It was a little show called You’re Beautiful, it’s about a soon-to-be nun dressing up like her twin brother and being in a K-pop idol group.

What I liked about the drama and the dramas to come – they were ‘clean’ – no cussing, no excessive kissing or bedroom action… The dramas would be rated G – because even if the content to more adult in theme, they try to keep it within reason, if you know what I mean. Not to say there aren’t shows and movies that are Korean that show and do more – I just choose not to watch those.

But back to my point – watching that first drama since there was a lot of music in the show, it naturally got my interested in the music. My first band that I fell in love with was CN BLUE – one of the actors from You’re Beautiful, is the leader and vocalist for the band!! From there – just researching the internet and asking my friend, M, for more bands, idol groups, and singers.

Then from there I found Big Bang (which is my all time favorite K-pop band) and SO MANY more.

From being super into the dramas and then the music, I started looking more into the culture and their traditions. I love reading about history, in general, so it was cool to learn about a different culture. I have slowly started getting into the language and learning to write the characters.

I have met some different people in the last 5 years, that I know I wouldn’t have come in contact with if it wasn’t for K-pop and K-dramas!

If you are even a little bit interested – don’t be afraid to check some of the music and shows out. Most all the K-pop artists have YouTube channels and a LOT of the dramas are now on Netflix and Hulu! Dramas I would suggest starting with You’re Beautiful, Secret Garden, Boys Over Flowers, or Coffee Prince.

That it for now, hope you have a blessed day!!!

Introducing my new website

Thanks for stopping by and welcome to my new blog! This is just an introductory post so I’ll keep it short and sweet.

I decided to start a blog because I moved away from my hometown and I wanted to keep my family and friends up-to-date!

Over the next few months I plan to be writing and sharing posts about my life down here in Ventura, CA! 🙂

That’s it for now! If you’d like to be kept updated with my posts “Like” this post or subscribe to my blog.

Hello world!

Just a short entry, if for some reason a person I don’t know checks out my blog!

My name is Jodi, I’m 32 years old and I’m right in the middle of going on an advent-CHA with God!! 🙂 I lived in central California – mainly Galt, a small farm town, for most of my life. I was working 2 jobs but not really doing anything but working and sleeping. I wanted to do something more, but I didn’t know what.

I was having lunch with a friend and she was telling me about this non-profit called Restore, they had one in Stockton, and there was a newer one in Ventura, CA! I had the director’s number for 2 weeks before I did anything. With another friend by my side, I called him one day after work. He was busy getting ready to take a much of youth to feed the homeless. I e-mailed him my bio, my past ministry work, and my picture. I made a quick trip down to Ventura on Memorial weekend to meet him and see the Ave, the part of town where I would be. I made another quick down there to meet my potential host family. Then a month and a half after that – I was driving down here with my mom to start my year long internship with Restore Ventura!!!

Me saying, ‘Good-bye.’ to my life in Northern California.
